One flower, one world | Aruna and her baking
The first time I saw When I was in the office of Aruna , she worked at Pirate Wine Castle. At that time, our two stores shared a store on Yeyu Road. She looked bright, gentle, smiling, and got along well with everyone. Later, she went to work in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
When Honghong was traveling alone in Thailand, she had a car accident and lost her bank card. Aruna took care of her, took her out for dinner, and lent her money. They were not very familiar with each other at that time, but it can be seen that Aruna is a warm-hearted and kind girl.
Later, she returned to Dali and converted a camping van into a coffee van, selling coffee on a quiet roadside. During the two years of the pandemic, she opened a baking studio, made her own bread, held brunch, and taught baking.
Recently, she rebuilt a baking studio next to the fields in the village. Zayaa . From design to decoration, big and small things, she handles everything by herself. She is mainly used to teach baking students. A while ago, she joined our Cangshan Hiking Home and was responsible for the flower cake making experience. When she is free, she also leads hiking and travel.
Because we have been working together in recent months, we have had some sporadic chats, not many, and not in-depth. In the few words, whether it is work in Thailand, the roastery, the coffee truck, life, and relationships, the difficulties and frustrations she has experienced during this period seem to have been resolved by her own growth.
Make rose flower cakes with Aruna, you will experience the making of this special food of Dali, and also see a corner of the life of a girl who lives in Dali, tries hard, is independent, free, kind, gentle and resilient. I hope you will like it.

about Flower cake making and baking experience
Text: Aruna
"I remember the first time I came to Dali, I passed by the Flower Cake Shop on Renmin Road and was greeted by a fragrant aroma. They were freshly baked, so I bought three flavors and only ate one at the time. When I returned to the inn and ate the remaining two, the aroma was not as strong and the cake was not as crispy.
Later, when I lived in Dali, I tried baking and always missed the taste of freshly baked flower cakes, so I had today's flower cake experience.
Flower cakes are a unique pastry in Yunnan, made from edible Dianhong roses. The process from kneading the dough to baking takes about 2 hours. Adults like to make petal shapes, while children prefer to create some animal shapes. Looking at the shapes they made, you can tell that the children have observed a lot of small animals, including pigs, hedgehogs and fish.
Sometimes the adults are anxious to let the children make regular flower petal cakes, but I still think that the flower cakes made by children should have their own ideas and innovations. After all, the materials are the same, and it is fun for children to make a flower cake shape that is unique to them.
There is no complicated process to make flower cakes. You just need to participate in the production process in person. All the materials are made by your own hands. When they are freshly baked, I think the participants will definitely have a delicious and crispy experience. "
