Beekeeping

His family, like other families in Songhe Village, planted many plum trees, but Mao Ge's father raised bees in the plum forest. Mao Ge's father learned beekeeping from his father-in-law and inherited this craft. Beekeeping is very common in Yunnan, a place with flowers all year round. Most of the time, you only need to make a box (usually hollowed out of wood), and then the bees will go inside to build a hive.

Mao Ge's family uses a very special method. They built a yellow mud wall house for the bees, with a traditional tile roof, like a small building. Every time they take honey, they open the yellow mud seal and seal it again with wet mud.

When removing the honey, use a trowel to open the opening, then light a stick of incense to drive away most of the bees, prepare feathers and water, and gently sweep away the remaining bees. The water is probably to prevent the feathers from being stuck to the sticky cover.
