This route is a classic hiking route from Dali Huoshan to the Buddhist holy land Jizu Mountain.

Recording Jizu Mountain from a hiker's perspective:

Tang Tang | Jizu Mountain Buddhist Pilgrimage Route

However, due to the difficulty of transportation and route planning, most of the people who take this route are local outdoor enthusiasts, and ordinary tourists rarely have the opportunity to take this route.

Take a bus from the ancient town, pass the northern half of Erhai Lake, cross Shanggan, and go to Huoshan from Shuanglang. Start hiking from Liantai Mountain, cross mountains and ridges, pass Muxiangping where sheep are herded, which was once the gathering place of many practitioners. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can see the endless mountains, Huoshan in the west, Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake in the distance, and Jinding and Temple Tower in the east. It is unforgettable. The fusion of nature and religion is even more touching.

Every year when the rainy season comes, the grass and trees are lush, the wild flowers are in full bloom, the grasslands are green, there are large areas of high-altitude rhododendrons, and the cattle and sheep are leisurely and contented.

After passing Muxiangping, continue hiking for more than ten kilometers to reach the Golden Summit of Jizu Mountain. From the Golden Summit, take the cable car and minibus down to Jizu Mountain Town, and then take a taxi back to Dali Ancient Town.

  • Taohuaqing to Jinding Temple: 400 meters elevation increase (2800-3200 meters)

Return to Dali: Around 7:00 p.m.

When we first explored Jizu Mountain, almost all of our hiking leaders joined us, including Xiaochun, Wangwang, the tailor, Lao Li, and Xiaoxi. We all knew intuitively that this would be a great hiking route.
