I am Wangwang, I have lived in Dali for many years, and hiking in the mountains is one of my important life pleasures. The growth and changes of flowers, plants and trees in the mountains in four seasons allow me to go there often and always like it. About my feelings about this job, I write it in my record.

Our hiking guide team is a few friends who like hiking. In addition to me, there is Caifeng with his Border Collie, DD who loves extreme sports and digging crystals with his dog Yuanbao, Wang Yue who likes history and culture, Huanhuan who runs “Huanque” Restaurant, and Honghong, a Crossfit enthusiast and “finger food” producer. Yang Min from the wild mushroom picking team will also come to lead her favorite "Fern Forest" route, and sometimes other professional group members will come to guest star.

About our friends, you can learn about them here: "Our guides and two things to do"

If you want to walk more mountain roads in the forest, experience the primitive forest of Cangshan Mountain more deeply than a light hike, go to the quiet temple high in the Cangshan Grand Canyon to drink a cup of tea, eat a vegetarian meal, and go down to the valley to visit the stream, then choose this hike.

If you want to know, Polo Temple seems to be accessible on the regular tourist road. What is the difference between your route? We chose this route. Polo Temple is just a rest station. We did not start from the scenic area, but went up the mountain from Qingbi Creek, passed the stream, saw raspberries, wild marijuana, tea plantations on the mountainside, forests, arrived at Polo Temple, and then went down the canyon to visit the stream waterfall of Mocan Creek. Just like traveling in Dali, the same destination can be a completely different experience.

This is not something that everyone can do. You need to have some physical strength (but you don't need to be a sports expert).

In the morning, we passed Qingbi Creek, passed the grassland, raspberries, passed the dam, and saw wild marijuana

Arrived at the tea plantation on the hillside. There is a yard on the hillside here. Beyond the tea bushes, the view is wide and you can see a large area of Erhai Lake.

Continue to go up along the mountain road, there is a large quiet forest trail with no one else. There are all kinds of wild flowers, rhododendrons and ferns along the way, and the air is fresh and pleasant.

Two and a half hours later, we crossed the road near the temple.

Continue to walk for a while and arrive at the temple. The altitude is 2800, and you can see the nearby peaks and the water of Mocan Creek from afar. We drink tea and eat vegetarian food in the temple. The courtyard is quiet and you can see the valley from afar.

Sit on the backyard platform, eat vegetarian food, facing the green mountains in the canyon

Or sit in the temple for a while and feel the tranquility here

The temple is on the side of the cliff of the Mocan Creek Grand Canyon. It is a simple temple with mountains in sight. Most of the people who come here are locals, including hikers who exercise and devout lay Buddhists. After they arrive, they will find a table for themselves, pour tea, sit for a while and leave. The temple prepares tea for guests, and you can take it yourself, without any intention of asking for incense. You can feel that the people here are very comfortable. They are not necessarily good men and women, but they are close to this temple, like their own place, and everyone is a lively ordinary person. There is only one master here, and he often takes out cakes and fruits for people to eat. They are all brought by believers. He takes them out for you to eat, and he also seems very happy.

There is a fat yellow cat in the temple, which looks very much like its owner. It doesn't care to stroke it, and it is calm and at ease. You can take a look at the practice cave in the temple, which is where the founder of the temple, the Polo master, retreated to realize the truth, and there is also a Polo spring. There is a stele in the corner of the porch, which records the story of a layman who drank mountain spring water to the temple. The writing is detailed, sincere and simple, just like this temple.

After drinking tea and eating vegetarian food. If you have enough physical strength, go along the mountain road to Mocan Creek. Pass by the tomb tower of the founder of the temple. There is also an inscription here, talking about the reconstruction, which is also sincere.

The upper reaches of Mocan Creek are clear, with green moss and gurgling water.

After having fun, we returned to the mountain from another path, passing through the forest and reaching the foot of the mountain at about 4:30 pm. The whole round trip is about 13 kilometers, with an altitude increase of 800 meters.
