One Point | Six Activities with Lead Participants

Er yuan Rural Travel · Aruna

2026.2.11

Participating in Er yuan rural travel was purely accidental, influenced by the timing which led me to choose it from among numerous activities at Cangshan Hiking House. But it turned out to be surprisingly rich and interesting beyond expectations.

If the activities at Cangshan Hiking House had a preferred order of experience, Day 1 would definitely be Aruna. She is truly calm and gentle, not forced at all, with a natural sense of comfort and friendliness, like an old friend you haven't seen in years.

Star Gazing by Boat · Atu

I participated in five activities organized by Cangshan Hiking House during this trip. If I had to choose one, it would definitely be star gazing, for two reasons: the experience is uniquely special, and Atu is very professional.

It's easy for us to acquire these professional astronomy knowledge, but being in such darkness, no one knows each other and no one can see anyone. The gentle breeze and shimmering stars create a completely different experience.

However, for families bringing young children in winter, a prior assessment of whether the child's interest is sufficient to sustain two hours of star gazing is necessary. Our kid was super engaged, but another child on the boat was not very interested, making those two hours a real ordeal for him.

Cloud Mountain Ridge · Tailor

2026.02.12

The Cloud Ridge hike was very special. Along the way, we experienced an incredibly rich variety of terrains, and each section of the path allowed us to touch completely different natural textures. Even though I’m an avid hiker, I still found it fascinating!

Our guide, Tailor, didn’t talk much, but he was very sincere. He genuinely spent the whole day chatting with my child about Naruto—it was an entire day! Several times, I secretly worried that my child might be too bothersome, but Tailor never showed any impatience or敷衍, responding thoughtfully to every word.

I’ve always believed that anyone willing to listen carefully to children must be very kind-hearted.

Before we left, I showed my child the profiles of each guide, hoping he would notice the unique qualities of each person. When we got home, he was so enchanted that he asked me to look them up again. Combining the bits and pieces Tailor occasionally shared about his own experiences during the day, my child filled in the gaps with his own imagination, mixing fact and fiction to create a mythical image of Tailor. In the end, he concluded: 'Mom, I think Tailor is the coolest. I’ve never met anyone who loves Naruto so much that they opened a ramen shop related to it—I really admire him!'

Thank you to Tailor’s dog, Guobao, for providing half of the emotional support, and thank you to Tailor for creating this wonderful memory for my child. I think this memory will stay with him for a long time: In that special February, he had a very unique day with Tailor and Guobao.

A Day in the Mountain Village | He Cheng · Xiao Li

A Day in the Mountain Village is one of the most enriching experiences I’ve had. It combines activity and tranquility, suitable for all ages. The village itself is very beautiful; even if you can't complete the entire route, just sitting on the hillside is an enjoyment in itself.

My child and I met our guide He Cheng for the first time, and we were immediately attracted by his car, full of plant specimens, giving the sensation of being pulled into the wild mountains. It felt like a shift in time and space. Later, when they saw Wang Wang's car, my kid said: 'Compared to He Cheng, I prefer Wang Wang's specimen decorations.' (This reflects the child's filter favoring Wang Wang.)

His guiding style is quite unique, very lively, emphasizing a spirit of boldness—daring to speak, pick, and taste! It carries a heroic aura of Shen Nong tasting a hundred herbs (details of which we won’t expand here).

My child especially liked the accompanying guide Xiao L, describing him as humorous, witty, and fun.

I believe that half of the quality of all activities at Cangshan Hiking House comes from the route itself, and the other half is shaped entirely by the guide, giving it a unique personality and spirit core. So, it's probably very difficult to replicate in other cities. Friends interested can read the descriptive text before and after choosing activities.

Our Guide & Two Things to Do

Ferns Forest · Wang Wang

2026.02.14

We participated in five activities organized by Cangshan Hiking House. The Ferns Forest was the last. On the way back, my child said: 'Now, Wang Wang is my top favorite.'

He didn't actually pay much attention to ferns—he said himself he's more interested in the guide. His exact words were: 'They're all very interesting!' I think Wang Wang's winning reason is that he can handle every topic Wang Wang discusses: history, natural sciences, Naruto, Harry Potter—you name it—and can delve deeply into each. He even thinks Wang Wang looks a lot like him.

Influenced by mainstream values, the child's early wishes were simple and straightforward—Tsinghua, Peking University, Harvard, Cambridge—labels so grand, yet so single-minded and all-in.

A five-day hike through Cangshan Mountain as a family trip allowed him to meet six different types of people in the shortest time (we carefully read the guide's resume), such a vibrant and diverse range of lives opened a window to the world for him. These experiences will leave unique roots in his heart and accompany his growth forever.

Many years later, he can become He Chen, Little Li, a tailor, Wang Wang, or any version of himself he aspires to be.
