Qingsuo Village is located in Shangguan Town on the north bank of Erhai Lake in Dali City. According to legend, in 225 AD, Zhuge Liang led his army to the south in three groups. Because the Miju River blocked the way, he ordered the soldiers of the three armies to gather green cattails and twisted cattails as ropes, so that the army could cross the river smoothly. The village was named Qingsuo Village and the bridge was named Qingsuo Bridge. In the 23rd year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty, the Qingsuo Bridge was removed and a magnificent three-hole stone arch bridge was built on the original site and renamed Tianqu Bridge.

Our "Follow Brother Ding's Village Cycling" activity will pass by and visit this village along the way.

One day, when I visited Qingsuo Village by myself, I happened to meet a guest who had participated in the cycling. I couldn't forget it, so I returned the next day and had a picnic on the bridge. A few meters away, the Yong'an River runs parallel. So this place is not only special during the river lantern festival, but also a good trip to visit here at other times. The Miju River and the Yong'an River run parallel to each other ten meters apart in this ancient village.

The 15th day of the seventh lunar month every year is the most grand festival in Qingsuo Village, Shangguan Town - the River Lantern Festival. On this day, the Bai villagers nearby will gather around Tianqu Bridge, where they will hang colorful sacrificial items, and the elderly will chant scriptures, burn incense, pray for good weather, good harvests, and remember their ancestors and pray for the souls of the dead.

At dusk, pairs of young boys and girls, full of piety, go to the local temple to worship and make a wish. They go to the riverside to light up the beautifully made river lanterns one by one and put them into the Miju River, letting them float downstream.

Our friend Lele went to Qingsuo Village to attend the river lantern festival during the Ghost Festival one year:

"Children hold various creative river lanterns above their heads and squeeze into the crowd. On this day, villagers from nearby villages flock to Qingsuo Village and cast stars beside the Tianqu Bridge left over from the Ming Dynasty..."

Another friend Queenie said:

"I was taken by a friend to Shangguan Qingsuo Village to release river lanterns in a daze. Only by seeing it with your own eyes can you understand their awe of the Ghost Festival. Yue said that they also released river lanterns when they were young. I think the northern part seems to be lacking in the sense of ritual of folk festivals. I released my first river lantern in my life to express my thoughts to my old friends."
